Year 7
- Number (fractions, decimals, percentages, indices)
- Algebra (expressions, linear equations, sequences)
- Geometry (angles, area, volume)
- Plugging primary gaps, introducing formal algebraic notation
KS3 is the bridge between primary arithmetic and the abstract thinking that GCSE requires. For students in Years 7–9 at Dubai's British and international schools, these three years determine whether GCSE Maths feels achievable — or like catch-up from day one. At Improve ME Institute, we treat KS3 Maths as the most important investment a family can make before the exam years begin.
Many students who were confident in primary school hit a wall in Year 7. The shift from number-based problems to abstract algebra and ratio is sudden, and school classrooms cannot pause for every student who needs more time. The most common sticking points are fractions and percentages, algebraic manipulation, and ratio word problems. None of these are signs of low ability. They are signs of a gap that was never properly addressed.
Strong foundations across the key strands before GCSE.
Assessment is built around topic mastery, regular testing, and exam-style practice where applicable.

MaThesis is Improve ME's in-house mathematics programme. At KS3, it includes diagnostic booklets that pinpoint exactly where a student's foundation gap is, topic trackers showing what has been mastered and what comes next, and scientific calculator workshops to build fluency before Year 10.
Many parents treat Years 7 and 8 as low-stakes. In reality, roughly half the GCSE Maths syllabus is content first introduced at KS3. A student who arrives in Year 10 with shaky fractions or algebra spends two years playing catch-up instead of perfecting exam technique.
Late October / Early November: First secondary school reports arrive. January: Post-mock window — fix foundations before Year 9 options. May / June: Pre-teach next year's algebra over summer.

Everything you need to know about Mathematics at Improve ME
We offer structured Key Stage 3 Mathematics tutoring in small groups (maximum 6 students) at our licensed centre in Gold & Diamond Park, established since 2010. Our programme is aligned to the curriculum and exam boards used in Dubai schools, with dedicated tutors, regular progress tracking, and materials designed to build confidence and achievement.
Sessions are scheduled in blocks that match the Key Stage 3 academic year. We cover the full specification or curriculum in a logical order, with built-in review and past-paper practice where applicable. You receive regular progress updates so you can see how your child is improving.
Our tutors are subject specialists with experience teaching in Dubai and internationally. They use our in-house lesson plans and materials, so every student benefits from the same high standard of teaching regardless of which tutor they work with.
Starting at the beginning of the Key Stage 3 course gives the strongest foundation, but we also take on students who join later and need to catch up or target specific topics. We recommend an assessment so we can tailor the programme to your child's current level and goals.
You can book a free Diagnostic Test via our website or by contacting us directly. The Diagnostic Test helps us understand your child's current level and goals so we can recommend the right group and programme. We'll then outline the next steps and schedule.
